Just because.

Dear Professor:

I realize that I am taking your class, and have been all semester, and in your great holy Ph.D. wisdom I am but a lowly groveling masters student. I realize that you have what qualifies as "subject matter expertise" and that you have carefully designed and redesigned every assignment to stump us peons in the most inimitable fashion.

I have two small points, however, over which I would like to quibble.

1. First, and perhaps most importantly, those of us of lesser brain power are having a bit of trouble understanding concepts. When we ask you a thoughtful question (or a really dumb one at that) a somewhat intelligble answer would be appreciated. The answer to any question we ask, even the most moronic one, should not be "Just because."

2. In all deference to your astounding brain power and aforementioned subject matter expertise, English is not your first language. Therefore when you ask for the Average Net Present Value and we give you the Average Net Present Value, please do not try to convince us that what you actually meant was something different.

Most humbly and respectfully yours,
The girl surfing the web in the back row.
