CHICAGO (Reuters) - A Southwest Airlines plane landing in a snowstorm at Chicago's Midway Airport slid off a runway and smashed through a fence onto a road on Thursday, injuring at least two motorists, officials said.

The Boeing 737, which had flown from Baltimore with 98 passengers and five crew, ended up in an intersection with its nose on the ground after the front gear collapsed, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

The FAA said no one on Southwest Flight 1248 was hurt but that two people were injured in a car that collided with the plane. Chicago's WBBM radio reported as many as nine motorists were injured, some seriously, as vehicles plowed into the aircraft.
