Human Unkindness.

Irate

Synonyms: angry, angered, annoyed, antagonized, bitter, cross, displeased, enraged, exasperated, furious, hopping mad, huffy, incensed, indignant, infuriated, irascible, irritated, livid, mad, maddened, offended, piqued, po'd, provoked, riled, steamed, tee'd off, tempestuous, testy, ticked off, vexed, worked up, wrathful, wroth...you get the point.

One of my students just called me at work to contest a grade I gave for a homework assignment. When I couldn't tell him exactly what he did wrong and why I took the HALF POINT off (because I'm at work and don't have the assignments here) he hung up on me.

Since when did THAT become an acceptable way to treat someone?!?

Yeah, and even worse than at a state university, they probably get irate over 'paying for a good grade' and getting a, well, not so good one. I had one get pissed off because I gave him a C in participation (to match his C in the class since all he did was joke with his GF in the back - my policy was to match their grades unless they contributed or distracted in particular, so he was lucky). He called me a bully. =0|

Hang in there.
